Veterans Empowered to Protect African Wildlife (VETPAW) is an organization that uses skills developed in combat to train local African rangers in the fight against illegal animal trade. They provide vital assistance to the dedicated park rangers working to combat poaching and trafficking schemes.
For example, the illegal trade of rhinoceros horns and elephant ivory fuels the senseless slaughter of hundreds of these animals daily. Unchecked poaching is rife, inevitably leading to the extinction of these species. To date, VETPAW has relied on four used Toyota Fortuner SUVs to survey habitats, respond to poaching reports, and train local rangers, but these vehicles are reaching the end of their useful life. While they were never a good fit for Africa's harsh outback to begin with, the group worked hard to preserve their functionality, driving them well past their expected lifespan.
The group is seeking donations to purchase Toyota Land Cruisers, which would serve as a long-term transportation solution. donations from dealerships,, foundations and private citizens could empower VETPAW to continue their wildlife conservation efforts for decades to come.
